  • The Department of Justice provides an effective justice system by delivering programs and services which contribute to building safe communities and the protection of rights. The Department of Justice Strategic Finance team is comprised of Finance Business Partnering, Management Accounting, Treasury and External Reporting, Financial Reporting, Finance Strategy and Procurement
  • About the role 
  • The primary purpose of the Manager Strategy & Continuous Improvement is to support the Director Finance Strategy and lead the Strategy and Continuous Improvement stream within the Finance Division of the Department. One of the key objectives of this role is to advise the Director on strategic and operational finance matters with particular focus on opportunities to continuously improve how the Finance function delivers high quality and cost effective services.
  • The role will support and implement strategic and operational procedure and policy reviews within the Department, including the major finance related projects, such as transformation projects and complex financial transaction execution.  The role has responsibilities including: maintenance of Department’s financial and related delegations, support banking arrangements, assessment of financial proposals, support of business planning processes and overseeing maintenance of Finance’s policy documentation. The role has one direct report, a Strategy and Continuous Improvement Officer.

Skills Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will possess superior commercial acumen and extensive experience as a Finance Manager in a large organisation.  Applicants must possess tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business, Commerce or related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience. Membership of CPA Australia (CPA) or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA) will be highly regarded. To be successful in the role you must be able to foster effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Government sector experience will be highly regarded.
