For the team of our “Climate Finance Governance Project, CFG” we seek applications from suitable candidates for “Internship”.

Job Location: Dhaka

Contract Duration: 3 Months

  1. Responsibilities

The Intern will responsible for assisting Climate Finance Governance project Team.

The incumbent is responsible for:

  • Support the nationwide climate vulnerability assessment through engaging in data collection and entry and some preliminary analysis
  • Conduct and participate in Key Informant Interviews (KII) and Focus Group discussions (FGD)
  • Transcribe and analyze FGD and KII scripts
  • Support the BCCSAP component as required
  • Assist and participate in relevant workshops, meetings and take meeting minutes as required
  • Periodically document and present results in team meetings
  • Gathering, analyzing, archiving and reporting relevant information with focus on project and Climate Change issues;
  • Perform other tasks assigned by CFG team
  • Develop a knowledge product in form of article, case study, report etc. as final output of the internship.

In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:

  1. Workshops and Meetings
  • invites the participants and do follows-up
  • organises the registration process
  • helps to organise logistical matters to conduct workshops
  • prepares workshop materials and background information
  • organises translation services where necessary
  • takes photographs
  • Support in other event management related tasks when and where required
  1. Key Informant Interviews (KII) in different areas of Bangladesh
  • assists in selection of key informants
  • assists in conducting interviews
  • takes adequate notes and/or transcribes interview recordings
  • prepares interview summary sheets
  • ensures storage of files
  1. Data acquisition, entry and preliminary processing
  • collests data from public sources
  • collects data from government and non-government sources by visiting different institutions (e.g. BBS, BMD, BUET, DoE etc.)
  • collects various data sources and publications (e.g. Population community series in various areas for various regions, population census data etc.)
  • prepares data spreadsheets for further analysis
  • enters non-digital data as necessary
  1. Other duties/additional tasks
  • Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy and to deal with a variety of highly confidential and sensitive issues with discretion
  • Fulfill tasks designated by supervisor
  • Good prioritisation skill and ability to coordinate a variety of work activities
  • Willingness to travel around Bangladesh as required
  1. Required qualifications, competences and experience

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in  the fields of urban planning, sociology, geography, disaster management or any other relevant disciplines
  • Strong interest in climate and environment/ biodiversity  related issues

Professional experience
     Not required

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Excellent command of modern data and communication systems including operational skills in web research and knowledge of relevant computer programmes (Microsoft XL, SPSS etc.)
  • Excellent speaking and writing skills in English and preferably also in Bangla.
