The School of Computing, Electronics and Mathematics is one of three schools within the faculty and has a very successful suite of courses supported by excellent staff, teaching facilities and laboratories.
  • The school is responsible for the development of a thriving portfolio of teaching and research.  Two of our offered courses lead to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The taught modules have both theoretical and practical aspects. So, we are interested in employing a new Technical Skills Instructor with main focus on Electronics. However, experience in other areas such as electric power is desirable since part of role is the support of individual student projects.
  • The post holder would have experience in most or all of the following:
  • Analogue and digital electronics
  • Embedded systems
  • Robotics
  • Communications
  • Programming
  • Instrumentation and Measurements
  • You will be responsible for the electronics lab. This means setup and preparation of lab exercises to be undertaken by students of different levels. Moreover, you will provide maintenance and repair of faulty lab equipment. Furthermore, you will be responsible for purchasing consumables and instrumentation. Your expertise and support will be sought also by the research staff and students of the School.
  • During the lab activities, you will be responsible for supervising groups of students while getting measurements or building electronics. Safety during the lab testing is a primary concern. So, you will be required to instruct students about safety in the lab and how to undertake their measurements reliably and safely.
  • Part of the role is to support final year students and postgraduate students with their individual projects. This included various tasks such as 3D printing, metal constructions and electronics topologies and boards printing. Ph.D students on power may also seek your support in order to build their test beds.
  • Although the electronics lab will be your primary responsibility, it is mandatory that you also devote some time in the electric power lab and familiarise with it, mainly for reasons of cover.
  • As one of Coventry's biggest employers we will provide an excellent benefits package and a personal and professional development programme that will help you to achieve your aspirations.
