Job Description/Responsibility

  • We are currently looking for one post-doctoral researcher to contribute to the project “Development of a Methodology to determine Loading Regimes for Track Designers” funded by the Rail Safety and Standards Board. The goal of this international project, coordinated by Vienna Consulting Engineers, is to develop efficient methodologies for the numerical modeling of coupled soil-track systems in the frequency and time domain. The candidate will work in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Bristol.
  • Successful candidate(s) will be adding research capabilities in the areas of dynamic soil-structure interaction, including lumped parameter modelling, site response, structural dynamics, probabilistic assessment and soil modelling. The post-holder will be joining a strong research team at the University of Bristol, and an international consortium of Universities, working together with RSSB.
  • The appointee will have at least a first degree in civil engineering and a PhD in soil-structure interaction, structural dynamics or railway engineering. Software development and strong computational skills would be an advantage.
