Job Description/Responsibility

Santander’s Commercial Banking Division is an active provider of capital, treasury management and risk management solutions to thousands of small and mid-sized companies in the northeast and across the country. The Credit Analyst will assist Credit Risk with credit analysis, utilizing the Commented Risk Rating to ascertain appropriate risk.  Will also underwrite enewals, modifications and new deals.

  • Support the credit approval and closing process by working with Relationship Managers on the credit risk component of the NILO document
  • Review closing documents ensuring compliance with covenants and closing conditions are met
  • Assist with credit and risk management by monitoring assigned portfolio
  • Maintain compliance with the requirements of the applicable laws and regulations, including the banks AML / BSA / OFAC / CIP program; ECOA / Reg B, and all other relevant laws and regulations
  • Independently perform financial analysis, underwriting, portfolio management, portfolio monitoring and author the Commented Risk Rating and credit risk components of NILO
  • Assist with legal closing process, prepare, review, and validate documentation, ensuring compliance and conditions are met
  • Communicate with client and Credit Officer regarding covenant exceptions
  • Communicate with credit team and Relationship Manager regarding covenant exceptions
  • Conduct industry and market analysis to identify issues
  • Conducts third party verification via background, credit and due diligence
  • Facilitate post loan closing activities and transition to appropriate groups for recording and tracking
  • Test for deteriorating credits and increases risk/exposure of assigned portfolio
  • Assess and formally review client risk through periodic Audits and Credit File reviews
  • Continuously monitor client financials/information to ensure compliance with loan policies
  • Monitors and assesses client financials, collateral, loan covenants and risk ratings on a periodic basis
  • Occasionally visit clients, partnered with Relationship Manager

Experience Requirements

    • 1-3 years of credit experience, specifically in the Commercial Auto Dealership line of business

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent experience
  • Position related much education.

Skills Requirements

  • Effective written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of Credit Policy, procedures, regulations and applicable law.
