  • Information Technology Services (ITS) provides RMIT University with Information and Communication Technology systems and services. Our role is to support RMIT's high quality teaching, learning, research and administrative activities. Information Technology is of increasing importance to the research, teaching and learning life of a university, particularly a 'global university of technology and design' like RMIT. ITS has developed, in conjunction with the broader University, an ICT Plan to 2020.
  • The Role & Your Responsibilities
  • The Senior Functional Analyst is responsible for the wide range of tasks associated with the development and on- going maintenance of the University's software systems. Tasks include business process analysis, application configuration and maintenance, design and development of modifications, system and user testing, user support and team training activities.
  • Dedicated to a single project or working concurrently on multiple projects and tasks, the Senior Functional Analyst works both independently and in teams comprised of functional and technical staff, as well as contracted external consultants. As a senior member of this team, this role will include some task-based staff supervision and the ability to independently lead projects. The Senior Functional Analyst will be required to report regularly on assigned tasks and sub-projects, to effectively engage and communicate with staff at all levels across the University.

Skills Requirements

  • Sound knowledge of enterprise integration with an appreciation of the broader University context.
  • Ability to analyse integration requirements and design end to end integration flows.
  • Experience in producing integration analysis and design stage artefacts within the software development process (e.g. integration specifications, sequence diagrams, use case scenarios, component diagrams, data flow diagrams, BPMN diagrams).
  • Experience in data modelling and mapping, including Canonical/Common Data Models.
  • Solid understanding of web services and related technology (e.g. REST, SOAP, XML, JSON, HTTP).
  • Experience working in an Agile working environment (e.g. SCRUM/Kanban).
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills and an ability to think laterally to identify practical and workable solutions;
  • Proven capacity to undertake a leading role in simulations, conference room pilots or business design workshops;
  • A high level of verbal and written communication skills for liaising with teams, liaising with stakeholders, departments, faculties and central units;
  • High level general computing skills such as MS Office, familiarity with MS Project, Project Management methodology, and enterprise administrative systems;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage assigned tasks/sub-projects independently and within required timelines;
  • Ability to work within an open/evolving team environment as well as supervising other staff and smaller teams as required to successfully achieve project goals.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into functional designs appropriate to RMIT's technology platform.
  • Experience in MuleSoft would be an advantage.
