Job Description/Responsibility


Element has an opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join our growing team. This role is a key member of the US Finance team which supports the Transportation & Industrials Division. The division encompasses thirty labs that span across North America, including Canada and Europe. The successful candidate will have a general-ledger accounting background with strong problem solving aptitude and skill set. The primarily responsibility of the role will be to assist the controller in performing monthly accounting activities. The T&I Senior Accountant must have the ability to partner and communicate effectively both across the finance team, management team and the wider group at all levels.


  • Preparation of detailed monthly report with key variances to budget and forecasts explained
  • Monthly Capex and P&L forecasts
  • Detail the risks attached to our forecasts and follow up on mitigation actions
  • Assist in preparation of monthly reporting, reforecast and annual budget
  • Ensure areas of responsibility adhere to Shared Service monthly and annual reporting
  • Production of management reports identifying key cost / sales var. with corrective actions 
  • Clear understanding of overheads and overall cost base Forecasting
  • Support the Sector and GM’s in the development of robust forecasting tools and processes
  • Be a key driver in the preparation of monthly forecasts, annual budgets and strategic plans 
  • Provide information to support the sector management on decision making
  • Assists the controller with month end, quarter end, and year-end close, including the preparation journal entries, KPI reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Prepares and analyzes reports such as Work-in-Process analysis, Departmental Reporting, Headcount Analysis, Capital Expenditure Tracking, and Monthly Performance Packs
  • Prepares sales / use and property tax return reporting, payment, and submission
  • Partners with shared services to resolve AR, AP, and collection issues as escalated
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Minimum 3 years general ledger accounting experience

Skills Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required
  • Minimum 3 years general ledger accounting experience
  • Strong technical accounting background
  • Strong Excel and Word skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Team player with ability to work independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Experience with Microsoft AX and Microsoft FX a plus
