Job Description/Responsibility

  • Knowledge Transfer Partnership is one of the UK's largest graduate recruitment schemes. This position offers a talented Design Engineer the opportunity to join a fast growing and creative manufacturing organisation with a highly-driven team who are intent on significantly expanding the business.
  • Wavin are world leaders in pipe systems for residential, non-residential and civil engineering projects. Systems offered include market leading Osma ground drainage, Hep2O hot and cold plumbing and underfloor heating, Hepworth Clay drainage and Hepworth Terracotta heating, ventilation and roofing products, and a range of drainage and storm water management solutions.
  • Wavin UK production is divided between plastic and clayware, with 4 manufacturing sites and a fully accredited test facility. Clayware represents 1/6th of the UK business and production is split across Hazlehead (near Barnsley) producing 40,000 tonnes per year of clay pipes and the Swandlincote site (Derbyshire), producing ancillary products - elbows, pots, T-junctions etc. They are supplied by four wholly owned quarries.
  • Ideally, you will have a Master's degree in a Chemical / Mechanical / Process Engineering / Technology subject or equivalent with good knowledge and experience of CFD, CAD, heat transfer, thermodynamics and combustion. Understanding of process safety systems and experience of risk assessments is desirable. A good 1st or 2:1 (undergraduate) degree with extensive experience is essential.
  • The chosen candidate will be based at the company’s Hazelhead site although some travel to and from the University will be expected. (Due to the remote access of the company premises the ability to drive and hold a full UK valid driving license would be desirable
