Job Description/Responsibility

  • A PhD fellowship with four years duration is available at the Production Management research group of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. The position is within the area of digitalized logistics. The primary focus will be on developing knowledge on how digitalization and Industry 4.0 provide new opportunities and solutions in the development of industrial logistics systems. We are currently increasing our focus on technology-based innovations for planning and control in such systems, among other things by means of an Logistics 4.0 Laboratory. The PhD student will become part of a team developing and using this laboratory for research purposes.
  • We are looking for a creative PhD student with strong interest in the application of digital technologies within the area of Production Management. We offer an exciting and challenging environment where you will perform your research in close collaboration with innovative industrial companies in Norway. The research will be oriented towards the challenges of these world-leading companies, and how they can be addressed by means of new technology.

Qualifications

The PhD position requires a MSc degree or equivalent in Production Management. Education with a technological profile is an advantage. For an application to be considered, the applicant must attach a preliminary description (maximum 2 pages) of a research plan. The successful applicants must be highly motivated and ambitious with excellent grades from his/her MSc (minimum average grade B). The applicant’s ability to carry out high quality scientific work, in combination with good skills to deliver oral and written presentation of research results, along with good collaborative capabilities will be emphasized. Excellent English skills—written and oral—are required, and applicants with Scandinavian language skills will be preferred.

Conditions

PhD Candidates are remunerated in code 1017, and are normally remunerated with gross salary NOK 436.900 before tax. There will be a 2 % deduction to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund from gross wage. As a member of the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund you are offered:

The position is financed for 4 years, and includes 25% duty work. Work location is NTNU in Trondheim, Norway.

  • Proficiency in English, best shown by providing TOEFL scores.
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Test scores or equivalent would strengthen the application.
