Job Description/Responsibility

Federal Government Project Support job in Melbourne CBD starting immediately for 4 months + contract

Your new company
My client is a high performing Federal Government organisation seeking an experienced Project Officer to come on board for an immediate start for an initial 4 month period with strong possibility of extension.


Your new role
Reporting to the Manager, you will be performing a range of the following project support and administrative duties to a number of teams:

  • Undertake a variety of administrative and project support services, including using the Microsoft suite of products for the preparation and formatting of documents (Word), graphs and tables (Excel) and presentations (PowerPoint).
  • Assist with document management for teams using tools including SharePoint
  • Organise travel and accommodation for senior executives and teams
  • Organise public hearings, meetings and roundtables, provide secretariat support for meetings and follow up of action items with project participants, teams and Managers
  • Work flexibly in conjunction with the broader administrative support team to assist with the office-wide workload, including reception relief, organising catering and meeting room set-ups and sharing in administrative tasks.

Skills Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience in the following:

  • Previous administrative experience within the Government is essential
  • Dedicated to the delivery of excellent customer service, upholding high standards
  • Demonstrated high level administrative and secretarial skills, with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, attention to detail, tact, personal motivation and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated high level skills and experience in the use of software, including the Microsoft Office suite of products. Experience with government processes for records management and arranging travel are highly desirable, as is experience in the use of SharePoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities, work to deadlines, accept responsibility, display initiative, and work with minimum supervision.
  • Interpersonal skills, including the ability to work co-operatively within a team environment and to interact confidently and credibly in a variety of contexts.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to independently prepare material that requires a degree of interpretation, using succinct language and applying correctly the rules of syntax, grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Compensation/Benefits

  • You will receive an attractive hourly rate of $40 ph + super alongside working in a successful team, gaining experience working in a fast paced government environment.
