Which Business Unit will you be working?
Network Engineering: Bringing open networking to the enterprise with Dell Networking solutions.

Dells vision of the new data centre networking model is an open ecosystem in which organizations can take their pick from innovative, industry-standard network applications, network operating systems and network hardware. In todays data centre, rapid increases in virtualization, cloud deployments and big data analysis have created new challenges as organizations look to build IT infrastructures that meet todays and tomorrows business demands. Open networking solutions enable IT managers to build an application-agnostic infrastructure and simplify data centre management with standard automation tools and standards-based open platforms. Organizations can leverage open-source tools and expertise to minimize costly engineering overhead and help reduce the time and effort required to design, provision and manage networks.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • The select candidate will be responsible for the development of diagnostic software for Dell's Networking products. This candidate will be a member of the Hardware Network Development team. The primary responsibility for this position is to provide the development, testing, sustaining and delivery of diagnostics software features and develop Board Management Controller software and perform automation testing on the switches. Job duties will include execution and/or overseeing of the following:
  • Design and implement new diagnostic, Board management software features and deliver them on time
  • Understanding feature requirements and participating in technical reviews of new platform HW and SW requirements documents, designs and test plans.
  • Develop, test, and integrate code for new software projects. Communicate project issues and status
  • Responsible for planning the test approach and scope, writing test cases, executing test cases, test reports, recording and managing defects, and communicating issues, risks and status on a timely basis.
  • Use defined software lifecycle methodologies. Review and implement test strategies for software products.
  • Working with internal and external design teams, testing new platforms and providing feedback on new product introduction.
  • Ensure that the HW products develop appropriate (feature & quality) systems to meet the design specification.

Experience Requirements


Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills, ability to work independently or in a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Expertise developing diagnostic software applications
Proficient in C (must), C++, Perl, Python and object oriented methodologies.
Working experience on Intel Server architecture and systems management applications.
Experience with embedded Linux and open source libraries or other embedded operating system.
Experience with low-level firmware or device drivers.
Strong debugging skills using various industry standard debuggers
