Job Description/Responsibility
- The School of Forensic and Applied Sciences is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in High Hazard Management. The post holder will provide to us academic expertise relevant to the field of managing emergencies in high hazard industries. The successful candidate will have responsibility as a Course Leader ensuring excellence in the experience of students studying towards the award of MSc in the Management of High Hazard Industries. Experience of teaching in Higher Education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and course leadership is therefore essential.
- As such, the Senior Lecturer can expect to lead a team of skilled professionals in the delivery of pedagogically innovative curriculum and assessment which, while stimulating and stretching, runs fully in compliance with UCLan's high academic quality standards. Supported by UCLan's business expertise and in a collegial atmosphere, they will help to promote and grow the programme over future years and seek other opportunities for knowledge transfer.
- The successful candidate will be expected to conduct their own research which will be of a standard acceptable to be published in peer reviewed academic journals and delivered at academic conferences. The School of Forensic and Applied Sciences is ambitious in research terms and the candidate can expect to submit in future years to the REF and effectively target external research income.
- The successful candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree.
Effective communication skills, flexibility and an ability to work as part of an academic team are also core requirements for success in this role.
