Job Description/Responsibility

  • We are currently recruiting for an experienced Accounts Payable Clerk to join an exciting luxury fashion company in Hammersmith. The successful individual will gain a lot of exposure to a wider finance function and can develop their skills and progress.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision of workflow and recovery issues regarding non-payment and coordination with relevant teams on remedial action for overdue accounts
  • Key contact for suppliers and around 350 accounts based in Europe, Asia, Middle East, Turkey, Russia, America
  • Keeping track of all payments and expenditures, including payroll, purchase orders, invoices, statements
  • Ensuring that all payments are made within company policy and within payment terms deadlines
  • Maintaining an accurate updated aged debtors list with accurate notes of last chasing activities
  • Support AP Manager and Financial Controller in assisting with requests from Internal & External Auditors
  • Suggesting, documenting and monitoring financial operating procedures and be proactive in identifying areas for system and process improvements to prevent errors in data collection and calculations and to increase the efficiency of the role
  • Dealing with letters of credit when necessary, posting and allocation of receipts mainly in GBP, EURO, USD
  • Raising and posting customer refunds when required
  • Ensuring customers are meeting payment terms agreed, monitor payment performance and liaise closely with the Sales team to achieve this.
  • Performing credit check on potential new customers and current customers who wish to increase their credit limits/payment terms - reporting and escalation of issues which impact on timely cash collection

  • Microsoft Excel and Word experience
  • Previous experience working in Accounts Payable within Fashion/Retail/FMCG
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Fast learner, personable with a strong work ethic and comfortable in a team environment
  • Interest in Fashion / Retail a desirable
  • Additional Language such as French or Italian a desirable
  • AAT qualification a desirable
