Job Description/Responsibility

  • Quality & Governance Monitoring Officer
  • Orchard Care Homes has been running and managing care homes across the UK for over a decade. Our mission: To be the positive choice for residents, their families and friends, healthcare professionals and staff.
  • The role is part of an ever growing quality and governance department whose aim is to support the deliverance of the very best standards of care and quality within our homes.
  • The main purpose of the role is to audit Orchard Care homes against the Health & Social Care Act 2008. Regular audits are to be completed at the direction of the Executive Director of Quality and Governance.  You will work closely with the Regional Directors to ensure quality of care is maintained at compliant levels
  • Quality Monitoring Officer – The role will involve travelling and the occasional night away from home – The role also includes some working from home to complete detailed reports


  • You will receive support and be directly aligned to the Senior Quality Monitoring Officer who in turn is accountable to the Executive Director of Quality and Governance

  • As part of this exciting and dynamic role you will ensure care standards are maintained in our portfolio of homes by auditing, using feedback from services, observations and other in house reports.
  • You will, following all visits, be required to prepare a detailed and factual report, summarising the outcomes of the completed comprehensive visit audit, which identifying what actions need to be taken by way of a specifically designed scoring system


  • The role requires organisational skills and professional competence, Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential.  These skills are also needed for developing good internal relationships, along with regular liaison with residents and relatives. Strong analytical and IT skills and a self-motivated individual is required.


  • The post is ideally aimed at professionals with previous managerial or nursing experience is desirable, but not essential within the elderly care sector. Previous experience of auditing within the health and social care sector would also be an advantage – However training can be provided for the right individual
