Job Description/Responsibility

The Scrum Master will coordinate the work of an Agile EDW team. The Scrum Master is responsible for monitoring the scrum processes and scrum meetings. They increase the team efficiency, motivate the team, and argues for changes that will ensure quality and timeliness. They ensure the Definition of done, Sprint Goals and standard scrum principles and practices are being followed. This position will handle traditional project manager functions with both Agile / Scrum methodologies and waterfall methodologies.

Essential Duties:
  • Function as the servant leader of the Scrum Team.
  • Train, coach, and mentor teams on use of Agile/Scrum development process
  • Assess the Scrum Maturity of teams and coach those teams to a higher level of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
  • Proactively helps the team identify and resolve impediments and shields team from interruptions during the Sprint
  • Build trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving.
  • Facilitate getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
  • Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
  • Guide teams on how to get the most out of self-organization.
  • Support and educate the Product Owner on grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
  • Work with the team and Product Owner to create features, user stories, and task within Rally.
  • Setup and facilitate Sprint planning, daily scrum, sprint demo, and sprint retrospective meetings
  • Be flexible with Agile / Scrum rules so that the methodology can consist with Waterfall methodology
  • Willing to travel up to 25% and occasionally more for project kick-off and training
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Must live locally in either Columbia, MO or Jefferson City, MO or be willing to relocate
  • Willing to travel 25-50% for project kick-off and training if located in or around Columbia, MO
  • 2+ years experience as a Scrum Master for a software development team that was applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory on a large-scale development process
  • Experience working with traditional waterfall SDLC and the ability to effectively blend the methodologies.
  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
  • Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated experience communication with all levels of management

Experience Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience working with data warehouses and/or BI (business intelligence projects)

Education Requirements

  • Related education

Skills Requirements

  • Experience with healthcare, clinical and/or other social service data and organizations
  • Current CSM certification from an accredited source
  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc.
  • Awareness and experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games.
  • Applicable knowledge of the technologies used by the team.
  • The experience in applying a wide variety of well-documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach(example: various Burndown technologies, many Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
  • Rally (CA Agile Central) knowledge
