Job Description/Responsibility

  • Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree and be highly motivated in teaching and learning. They should also have good teaching skills in philosophy and its intersection with science, an excellent command of spoken and written English, and organizational and interpersonal skills. The appointee is expected to contribute to the teaching in both the Department of Philosophy and the Bachelor of Arts and Sciences (BASc), and will work closely with the BASc Director and the BASc curriculum team in administering and developing the programme and in providing academic advice to students.
  • A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary.

On March 16, 1910, Sir Frederick Lugard, the then Governor of Hong Kong, laid the foundation stone for the University.
