Job Description/Responsibility

  • Introduction
    An investment company involved in food processing throughout Africa has an opening for a Chief Operating Officer, who will support the Chief Executive Officer in implementing and executing the Companys business plan with emphasis on world class efficiencies and production according to market demands.
    Description
    • Drive the strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting of business requirements.
    • Develop, in collaboration with the Executive team, a robust Business Plan and Annual Operating Plan that supports the long term Business Strategy.
    • Ensure strategic objectives shaped at Executive Management level are translated into tactical business plans with mechanisms for key measurements in place to monitor progress.
    • Responsible for driving the company to achieve world class efficiencies, profitability, keeps up with market demand and produces accordingly, manages risks and creates a sense of ownership in his teams.
    • Establish and monitor Business Performance reporting systems to be implemented across the business.
    • Analyse the Operation to evaluate company performance against indicators and determine areas of potential cost reduction and productivity, improvement and implement systems to drive, capture and entrench savings and improvements
    • Set comprehensive performance goals for each department.
    • Evaluate performance by analysing and interpreting data and metrics.
    • Coordinate the efforts of the different operational areas under management to ensure minimal duplication of efforts, maximum efficiency and to maximize value for money.
    • Provide timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the Operation.
    • Identify the underlying principles, reasons, or facts behind inefficiencies by analysing facts and develop a timeous solution.
    • Implement Systems and Procedures to measure and track business performance in all functions.
    • Coordinate the development and implementation of financial systems, record keeping systems, or other administrative control processes to improve operational efficiencies.
    • Ensure that company has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures to meet operational and financial targets.
    • Responsible for revenue generation of the Operation.
    • Identify and implement action plans to ensure profitability of the Operation and maximise returns on investments and to increase productivity.
    • Manage departmental budgets including signing off of invoices and quotes within mandate.
    • Sign off capital expenditure within budget.
    • Rebalance resources between different areas e.g. reallocating budgets, but within overall approved resources for the year.
    • Provide clear directions on strategic goals, translating and prioritizing them into business and performance measures for all Functional Heads or Executives.
    • Track the Performance of Functional Heads or Executives against performance goals and plans, on a regular basis.
    • Update and review the Organisation Structure to ensure optimal human resources in each function.
    • Oversee daily operations of the Farm and the Feed Mill, including the technical team.

Experience Requirements

  • Poultry Industry experience, minimum 10 years.

Skills Requirements

  • Business Administration Degree.
  • Proven experience as Chief Operating Office or relevant role, minimum 3 years.
