Job Description/Responsibility

  • The Environmental Research Center at Duke Kunshan University is a research institution that integrates research and educational programs in environmental science and policy. The research center provides a hub for faculty to engage in interdisciplinary and policy-relevant research in China and beyond; it facilitates collaborations with faculty and researchers at Chinese universities, businesses operating in China, policymakers, and non-governmental organizations. The research center also serves as a hub for innovative student research projects that are collaborative, vertically integrated, problem-focused, and multidisciplinary.   • We are seeking to hire one post-doctoral research fellow to work at Duke Kunshan University in Kunshan, China. This position will be for a one-year term, renewable for a second year. The ideal candidate will have strong writing, quantitative, and communication skills, and the ability to think creatively about research. The candidate should have prior experience with analysis of cohort, case-control, and cross-sectional population health data.
  • The candidate selected for this position must meet eligibility requirements to work in the China through the period of employment. Position is available for immediate filling.

Education Requirements

  • Candidates have doctoral training in environmental science, exposure science, environmental health, epidemiology, health economics, occupational health, or related field with a strong quantitative focus.
  • Experience with applied biostatistics, applied regression methods (linear regression, logistic regression, survival analysis, Poisson regression), statistical programming (including SAS, STATA, or R).
  • Goal-oriented team player with excellent organizational and communication skills, including written and oral English.  

Skills Requirements

  • We seek a candidate who plans to expand their research direction in environmental health. Environmental health is aimed at understanding environmental exposure factors and how these factors affect human health. The primary responsibilities of this position are to develop research studies that address important issues in population- based occupational, environmental, and public health. The position involves analyzing collected data, drafting manuscripts for peer-reviewed journal submission, and participating in grant proposal submissions. The candidate should also have an interest in designing and creating a longitudinal cohort. We aim to be highly productive and post-doctoral fellows are encouraged to publish first-authored papers and to participate in national and international meetings.
