Job Description/Responsibility

  • St Mary’s University, Twickenham is seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Grounds Person / Gardener to join our dedicated and busy team. The post-holder will assist with the maintenance of playing surfaces and amenities at St Mary’s University, Twickenham. Duties will include the care and preparation of sports pitches, routine gardening tasks as well as assisting with waste management duties.
  • We are looking for a well organised candidate who can demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and is able to work well on their own and as part of a team. You will have previous grounds and gardening experience. An NVQ in Amenity Horticulture/Sports Turf (Level 2), equivalent qualification, or evidenced experience is essential.
  • You will also be expected to work flexibly, including working weekends during busy periods or for special events on occasion, in order to meet the needs of the service.
  • Include details of your current Driver’s License as part of your application.
  • Following interviews the most promising candidates will be asked to return for a practical assessment of around 2 hours to briefly demonstrate relevant skills of the panels choosing.
