For the team of our "Adaptation to Climate Change in National and Local Development Plan, ACCNLDP" we seek applications from suitable candidates for "Internship".

Contract Duration: 6 Months

A. Responsibilities

The incumbent will work under the general and overall supervision and guidance of the Principal Advisor, ACCNLDP project. In order to fulfil his/her tasks s/he will work in close coordination with one designated senior advisor. 

  • S/he will be assisting in collecting data/information on different activity areas from the counterparts, ministries, divisions/departments, LGIs, NGOs, universities and other relevant civil society organizations.
  • S/he will be assisting in establishing contact with interesting and interested experts and organizations. S/he will be assisting in arranging for their adequate way of participation in the project and production of interdisciplinary knowledge and outcomes.
  • S/he will be assisting in organizing academic and NGO contributions considered essential by the PMU of the project.
  • S/he will be assisting in general communication with the counterpart.
  • S/he will be assisting in assessing the social, institutional, financial and economic viability of new applications of IT/Information management system to improve service delivery in PC and provides an initial criterion for their prioritization with respect to the needs of PC.
  • S/he will be assisting in organizing the events in the field of capacity development including the coordination and organization of human capacity development measures such as trainings and workshops for economic cadre officials in PC, in the sector ministries and LGIs.
  • S/he will support to do the documentation of the project activities.
  • S/he will support to prepare the reports of the different project activities. 

The Intern is responsible for the following tasks:

B. Tasks

1. Core scope of tasks

  • S/he will be assisting in the communication with different stakeholders (i.e. civil society, universities) to assist in preparing knowledge sharing events on climate change and adaptation in urban areas and related research fields
  • Assist all team members as per the need
  • Communicate with project officers and stakeholders as required by the principal advisor
  • Assist with data collection and analysis as and when required
  • Provide support in conduction of any necessary quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Assist in arranging meeting, workshop etc. and preparing meeting minutes and reports of the events.
  • Provide any other tasks assigned by supervisor

2. Knowledge management

  • Assist in ensuring knowledge transfer of project information to partners and other relevant stakeholders.

3. Other duties/additional tasks

  • Assist in facilitating meeting, training and workshops on designated thematic area.
  • Supports to develop capacity development measures and learning exercises in designated thematic area.
  • Assist in and/or carries out other activities and tasks, as assigned.  

C. Required qualifications, competences and experience

Qualifications

  • A university degree in the Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Economics, Statistics, Geography, Development Studies or any other subjects related to climate change and environmental issues.

Professional experience

  • No professional experience is required but participation is different forums, research work, conferences related to climate change and environment will be added advantage.

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Being pro-active engaged and motivated to contribute and learn.
  • Think out-of-the-Box, being innovative and creative
  • Good command of MS-Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Good language skills in Bangla in oral and written form to express complex conditions.
  • Good language skills in English in oral and written form.
  • Working knowledge of internet based desk research.
  • Familiarity with thematic issues such as climate change, environment, sustainable development, SDG, 7FYP development planning at national and local level will be added advantage,
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Independent, highly motivated team member who is willing to learn with and from different groups
  • Willingness to participate in field work.
