Specialist, Social Inclusion; Skills Development Programme (SDP)

Job Description/ Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the most vulnerable and marginalised
populations are represented across all project components of SDP, as
direct and indirect beneficiaries and/or staff members. This can include
(but are not limited to) indigenous persons; transgender people; and
persons with disabilities. Understanding that girls and women tend to
experience more marginalisation and increased vulnerability within these
groups, emphasis will be placed on female inclusion and in addressing
gender inequality
- In discussion with all the project leads, s/he will
be responsible for supporting the development of and ensuring
implementation of the Annual Operation Plan as well as specific action
plan and budget for Social Inclusion team, which will feed directly into
the programme’s overall work plan
- Organise and facilitate interactive training and
refresher orientation sessions on Social Inclusion for SDP staff at all
levels
- Lead post-training follow up field visits to assess
the level of sensitisation of staff and share findings with respective
teams
- Conduct frequent field visits to assess the
effectiveness of an inclusive approach and document and share the
findings accordingly
- Support field operations team in organising and
facilitating community level workshops periodically; and document the
process
- Support the implementation units in conducting local context analyses with a gender and socially inclusive lens
- Drive knowledge management initiatives related to
Social Inclusion, such as capturing best practices, documenting lessons
learnt and organising knowledge sharing meetings and events
- Incorporate discussions and activities related to
gender and social inclusion into facilitation plans when designing
workshops, dialogue sessions etc
- Serve as a resource person and mentor programme staff on various socially inclusive initiatives.
- Develop and support in designing and printing
Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials related to
gender, disability and other components of social inclusion

Requirements |
|
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor/Master degree in Gender Studies, Sociology,
Anthropology, International Development or any other relevant
discipline from any reputed University with all second class/ division
or equivalent GPA/ CGPA in academic examinations. No 3rd division/ class
or equivalent CGPA is acceptable
Experience: Minimum 04 years experience in the relevant fields is required
Additional Job Requirement:
- S/he should have extensive past experience working
on projects that involved a significant focus on gender mainstreaming
and social inclusion, carrying out Gender and Social Inclusion analyses
and the development of action plans to integrate marginalised population
across program components.
- Commitment to the principles of inclusive approaches
to programming that encourages full participation of individuals
regardless of sex, disability status, ethnicity, religion, sexual
orientation, gender identity or other marginalised status.
- Experience in building capacity of local stakeholders on gender and social inclusion issues
- Sound conceptual knowledge on major elements associated with development/NGO management;
- Understanding on key development issues in the context of urban and rural Bangladesh;
- Excellent team player and proactive in building relationships
- An understanding of how social media and interactive
communication platforms fit into Behavioural Change Communication and
drive the Social Inclusion training and campaign modules and
interventions.
- Exceptional content generating and editing skills
for a diverse range of purposes and formats, including print, online,
interactive, and social media.
- Excellent in operating Microsoft Office Suite (MS
Word, Powerpoint and Excel) and other relevant applications for the
role.
- Collaborative team player who is willing to tackle
the unexpected, embrace change and work cooperatively in diverse group
situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills both in English and Bangla.
- Excellent prioritisation, organisational and time
management skills as well as the ability to adapt to shifting priorities
and work under pressure to meet deadlines by contributing extra hours
at work if required.
- Judgment, diplomacy, and ability to make decisions based on incomplete and/or complex information.
- Exceptional attention to detail with ability to work
under pressure in a high volume environment, execute multiple projects
while meeting strict deadlines.
- Ability to comply with confidentiality expectations specific to sensitive matters or situations as they arise.
- Knowledge and sensitisation on gender and diversity issues is mandatory.
