GIZ Bangladesh is currently seeking applications for the position of “Intern”
from candidates who are attending a course of further study of which
the completion of an internship is an integral component or have
graduated no more than six months before commencing the internship.
Number of Candidates: 02 (one position for REEEP II and another for EEGIRE)
Education Background: Engineering Discipline (preferred: Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial and Production)
Duration: 3 months
(full time; with possibility of extension for another 3 months subject
to fund availability and individual performance)

Project/ Programme Overview:
Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency
is one of the priority areas of German Development Cooperation in
Bangladesh. The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme (REEEP
II) of GIZ, supported by the Bangladesh Ministry of Power, Energy, and
Mineral Resources and the German Federal Ministry for Economic
Cooperation and Development (BMZ) implemented by the Deutsche
Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Sustainable
and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA) is the government
counterpart of REEEP II. The project Renewable Energy and Energy
Efficiency Programme (REEEP II) is the follow-on phase of REEEP started
in November 2018.
The strategic orientation of the programme is:
- to spread the uses of renewable energy and energy
efficiency by improving the institutional capacities of the national
nodal agency SREDA and its cooperation with other national actors,
- to support energy efficiency awareness raising
programmes towards a societal transformation along with actors from
civil society, the public and private entities,
- to support national dissemination of solar roof top programme
The project Energy Efficiency and Grid
Integration of Renewable Energy (EEGIRE) has as overall objective that
the framework conditions in the energy sector, for grid integration of
solar energy and for the improvement of efficiency in the electrical
grid, are improved and utilised by the relevant actors. It is
implemented on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic
Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in cooperation with the Bangladesh
Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources.
The project supports the government in integrating
solar energy into the electricity grid and implementing measures to
increase the efficiency grid in Bangladesh. It pursues a multistake
holder approach and provides technical support on several levels in
order to develop the capacities related to sustainable grid management
with distributed renewable energies and smart grid technologies.
Besides the national level, the project focuses on the pilot region of
the sub network of West Zone Power Distribution Company. Power Division
is the programme’s government counterpart.
A. Responsibilities
The intern will actively assist in
documentation, document archiving, monitoring the progress of
activities, public relation, communications and knowledge management.
Furthermore he/she will support tasks of Technical Advisors in the
context of Development cooperation in the sectors Renewable Energy and
Energy Efficiency.
In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:

- Assist Technical Advisors in implementing programme activities.
- Support on PR & Communication related
activities such as archiving, knowledge product development, event
management, awareness campaign.
- Support in preparing success stories, case studies and project summary.
- Assist in Monitoring and Evaluation activities, e.g. data collection, reviewing activity reports.
- Support in taking minutes or drafting presentation of meetings
- Assist in document translation (English to Bangla and Bangla to English).
C. Required Entry Qualifications and Competencies
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline from reputed university at home or abroad.
- Overall exposure to energy sector or specifically
on Renewable Energy and/or Energy Efficient projects in Bangladesh are
added advantages.
- Experience or interest in report writing and documentation for different organizations/clients.
- Clear exposure to event management as well as
interest in communication related fields will be added
advantage.
D. Further Knowledge / Skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a multicultural environment and meet strict deadlines
E. Language skills
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Bangla is a basic requirement.
- Fluency in German is an asset.
