Position |
|
Emergency Preparedness and Response Officer, Site Management (Contractual); HCMP
Job Description/Responsibilities:
- Assist to develop and implementation of DRR strategy in consultation with CIC, communities and other camp actors
- Undertake contingency planning related to cyclone,
flooding, landslides and fire using participatory methods in
consultation with communities
- Undertake disaster risk vulnerability mapping in the
camps that BRAC have site management mandate, and to share findings
with relevant sector leads as well as advice on preparedness actions
- Undertake the management and training of SUVs and ensure they have the required tools and equipment to perform their duties
- Undertake regular drills at the camp level in coordination with the fire department, CPP and the CIC
- Maintain lists of all volunteer groups in the camp that can be called upon to respond during disasters
- Carry out capacity building/ training for the various sectors within BRAC on DRR
- Attend and represent DRR in sectoral coordination meetings both at COX’s Bazar and at the camp level
- Produce periodic reports and contribute to BRAC’s learning

Requirements |
|
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelors or Masters in Disaster Management or any other related subject from any recognised university/ institute
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 02 years of work experience with humanitarian emergency assistance project/ refugees
Experience in undertaking contingency planning related
to any of the following: Cyclone, landslides, flooding or fire
Additional Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated capacity in developing and implementing DRR strategies in integrated programmes
- Ability to undertake need assessment and implement capacity building strategies for staff on DRR
- Experience in staff supervision and training
- Commitment to an understanding of BRAC core values and principles
- Demonstrated competency to work independently with minimum supervision
- Have effective acquaintance with people management, data entry management
- Willingness to live and work in difficult and rapidly changing conditions
- Ability and willingness to travel and stay in the field
- Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse organisation
- Have excellent knowledge on Office Applications and Advanced Excel
- Excellent language skills both English and Chittagonian
