Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor FGD System Performance – Continuously track SO₂ removal efficiency, inlet/outlet SO₂ levels, pH, slurry density, and absorber differential pressure.
- Control Reagent Preparation and Injection – Manage limestone slurry preparation, storage, and injection rates to maintain optimal reagent utilization and SO₂ removal.
- Operate Absorber Tower and Spray System – Ensure proper operation of spray nozzles, mist eliminators, and recirculation pumps to maximize gas-liquid contact and SO₂ absorption.
- Manage By-product Handling – Oversee dewatering systems (e.g., vacuum belt filters, centrifuges) for gypsum production, and monitor gypsum quality (moisture, purity).
- Regulate Flue Gas Flow and Bypass Damper – Control flue gas routing through the FGD system or bypass, ensuring compliance with emission standards during start-up, shut-down, or upset conditions.
- Monitor and Maintain Oxidation Air System – Control oxidation air blowers and distribution to ensure complete oxidation of sulfite to sulfate in the absorber tank.
- Respond to FGD System Upsets and Alarms – Take corrective actions for pump failures, slurry spillage, pH deviations, or high differential pressure to avoid system trip or emissions exceedance.
- Coordinate with Boiler/Turbine Operators – Communicate changes in flue gas conditions, system availability, and potential load impacts due to FGD operation or maintenance.
- Document Environmental and Operational Data – Record SO₂ emissions, reagent consumption, gypsum production, and wastewater parameters for regulatory reporting and performance analysis.
